Back to basics
Today there is a decent article about Bruce Springsteen in the NYT. Sounds like the new album is pretty interesting. Hard to not have the sax though. He played a live concert for VH1 that I caught some of. He is still mesmerizing but it was distracting to have Patty make an appearance.

Yesterday my friend Ulu took us to the Gropius house which is evidently built in the German Bauhaus style. It was definitely interesting in the sense that I have no knowledge of architecture and learned quite a bit. The most interesting features of the house were the half-mirrored bulbs used in the bathrooms and other simple fixture places. I thought it was a pretty clever use of simple technology. I did appreciate the simplistic style of much of the house although I did find it to be a bit too oriented towards an upper-middle class professor with a servant than what I'd consider to be truly 'artistically, technically and practically balanced'. I did appreciate the Bauhaus style in terms of appliances and some furniture.

Rainy day, dream away..........

What is interesting about the Gropius house is how cheap it is. No marble, no granite, and it makes it obvious that none of that stuff is necessary. It's a stark contrast to what you see on Extreme Makeover Home Edition, not that there's anything wrong with Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

Yeah, bulbs.com is amazing.
